Kristy Aarons always knew she wanted to be her own boss and run her own company, but it was a love for all things retro that set the Nowra stay-at –home mum on this path.

An Internet search for retro caravans led to the discovery of glamping and not long after, the creation of her 5-star south coast business ‘Glamping Out’. The idea of being able to enjoy an outdoors holiday or nature stay without having to sacrifice luxurious accommodation certainly appealed to Kristy and it has resonated with the public, she explains, as her venture has gone from strength to strength since its inception just over 12 months ago.
Currently, Kristy has ten large bell tents that she transports to and sets up at the desired glampsite. She has a number of preferred caravan parks, but is happy to set up at a park of the guest’s own choice too. The sizing of the tents is ideal for a couple’s getaway or can also accommodate families and small groups. The tents are also a convenient means of organising more sleeping space on your own property for those extra guests, as the tents can quickly be set up into a mini bedroom/ luxurious retreat. An outdoor sleep out has never looked so good, with comfortable mattresses, beautiful linens, lanterns, rugs and decorative homewares all included. The tent is pitched, decorated and afterwards packed down for you; all you have to do is turn up and enjoy your stay.
Kristy says her glamping service has been particularly popular with guests wanting to celebrate special occasions such as Mother’s Day and anniversaries, while the summer months, Christmas holidays and New Year’s Eve are high demand times for glampers desiring a hassle-free south coast break. The response has just been so positive and has kept Kristy extremely busy, with the idea turning into a full-time job for Kristy much quicker than expected. Her background of customer service honed in retail, vintage boutiques and hospitality has helped her to understand her market perfectly and enabled her to provide a 5-star experience for guests. Kristy has plans to expand in the future with the addition of retro caravans to her accommodation options.
“I am in the process now of searching for the right style of van so as soon as I find it the retro flavour will be added.”
